The Bruno Law team defended Officer Efrem Hamilton, Minneapolis Police Officer, for charges of Second Degree Assault, Reckless Discharge, and Negligent Discharge. These charges stem from Hamilton responding to the scene of an active shooter situation in downtown Minneapolis at 2:15 a.m. on November 19, 2016.
The defense team for Hamilton say he used authorized use of force, when he took one shot at a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect car, after it rammed him, and with the car still in reverse was revving its engine loudly as if to strike again. These actions coupled with all the information that Officer Hamilton knew at the time of the shooting, lead him to believe that use of force was necessary to stop the apparent imminent threat of death or great bodily harm. Officer Efrem Hamilton was found not guilty on all charges.
